2nd one, great product

I have been using this towline for the past year+ guiding day trips in the 1000 Islands. Towing tired clients is not uncommon so this has got plenty of use, and has proven to be the best solution I have used thus far. It stows inside my Salus Proto PFD where it is not a snag hazard while attached to the quick release tow belt, but can be quickly pulled out for use. The extended tow webbing is light and easy to stow (I wind it figure of 8 around by index & little fingers). I mainly use it in long tow length, but the quick contact tow is a good option to have as well. The flotation built into the pouch is great, there's no risk of it sinking if has to be released in an emergency. My only real issue is that the supplied carabiner has a notched nose that can catch on a deckline (I don't understand why a smooth nose version isn't standard, the full climbing rating isn't needed for towing anyway). I have switched it out to a smaller, lighter, smooth nose carabiner, and also used a twisted O ring to keep the webbing captured so there's no risk of it slipping off the webbing end loop when the carabiner is open during clipping or unclipping. If the pouch could be made a bit more streamlined it would be even better. However, all-in-all this has proven a solid solution. And made in Canada to boot.

First off, quality of the materials used is perfect. The problems I have with it are design. Two things need to be fixed and I hope North looks into it. First, the carabiner needs to have a keeper on the lower part to keep the line from falling off the biner. Not good when your in a bad spot trying to hook onto a friend to get them out and the line slides off and your just holding a carabiner as the line is floating. Second the carabiner itself should not have a notch a 1/4 deep to hold the mouse gate. A few times now when trying to access my carabiner I find it hooks., actually every time. This is no good in a rescue situation. So after spending 150 on this I had to buy a new carabiner to put on it and i put tape around the bottom to keep the line fro sliding off. Not so much a time.
