These harnesses are bomber. On a trip down the Moisie River in Quebec, there was a mountain of gear at the beginning of each portage. After a few portages, a trend became apparent - everyone wanted to carry the barrels outfitted with North Water harnesses, leaving the others barrels in a sad pile to be carried later. North Water's version is clearly well though out. Holds the barrel rock solid. Easier to load in and out of canoes with tonnes of convenient and utterly usable grab loops, and totally comfy but without the extra bulk of unnecessary padding which is in the way when stowed. Good work on this one, I've ordered more.

On our trip to Labrador to fly fish, the quick haul harness was great. We didn't end up having to do any major portages, but the harness stayed on at all time and made transporting barrels in and out of camps a real breeze. I suspect it would prove its worth 10-fold on longer hauls. We didn't get to test it with the pelican cases for the aforementioned reason, but we've got another trip coming up this summer in Northern Ontario that looks like it might involve some bushwhacking so perhaps then.

I had a barrel that was very heavy and hard to carry. I got these straps and then it was much easier to carry. Together, we hiked that 85 lb pig over rock and sand and bush. We encountered many obstacles. Together, me and my barrel straps overcame them! For four straight days, we suffered. We laughed. We cried. Now, my straps rest inside my barrel many miles inland; laying in wait. Until I need them again.
From a barrel strap, I could ask for nothing more. Top notch straps. 5 stars!

Just returned from a trip where we used this harness to carry 85lb! barrels for 4 days of bushwhacking. Initially I had doubts, not because of the construction but just because of the intensely heavy loads we were packing with the harness. We used three harnesses and each performed marvelously over the 4 day suffer fest. I was totally blown away how comfortably they felt with such massive loads on our backs. 85lbs never feels good but I was completely impressed with the significantly simple yet highly customizable strap systems.
We were able to get each barrel to sit tight against our backs and thanks to the specifically situated padding there was no weird barrel curves distorting your spine. Felt and performed like a regular backpack system.

Great harness, easily adjustable, comfortable and durable. Tried this harness for 3 days through the BC bush. Held up to extensive abrasion and would use again.

The Quick Haul Harness worked out great for us in both rental and retail, should have ordered more!

The Quick Haul Harness is the best on the market today. In July of 2016, a friend and I paddled and portaged a 30 day expedition in the Northwest Territories. We knew the portages were going to be very challenging as our route took us between lakes which, to our knowledge, there have never been any established trails. We carved our way through armed with cutting tools and flagging tape, to find that the "established" trails on the other side had been ravaged by the 2014 NWT fire season. No trails, crisscrossed charred logs, and chest high fireweed.
Through all of that, the North Water harness was tough, reliable, and extremely comfortable; a great travelling companion. It incorporates astutely sculpted foam hip padding that fit the hips and barrel perfectly making it the most comfortable design that I have used. Light weight and simple design should a field repair ever be needed (although it never was). As well as plenty of gear attachment points and carry handles. I'm told that their 2017 version has an additional handle on the harness side and more flexibility as it also fits 30L barrels.
I will be recommending the Quick Haul Harness to existing barrel harness owners and first time buyers alike!

I did an 1800 km, 44-day trip and an additional 7-day trip with this barrel harness this past summer. It is by far the best I've used. The features that set this apart from other harnesses is the ultra-comfortable lumbar pad and the multiple grab loops. Hauling a fully loaded barrel on a bushwhack portage has never been so pleasurable- and the grab loops positioned around the harness make it easy to handle the barrel from any angle. I beat the heck out of it and it still looks brand new- no signs of wear yet- looking forward to years of use. I'm 6' tall and it fit me great- but it also fit a 5' tall woman perfectly too- so great sizing range. Awesome product- recommend it highly!
