North Water chose to support this expedition as it was a way to help inspire and bring the wilderness to school children around the globe, many of whom could only imagine an adventure of this calibre.  North Water was also inspired by their choice of craft opting for both canoes and kayaks a way we feel builds well rounded paddlers and community. North Water would like to wish all of these great adventurers the best of luck.  Have a look around and read about what these great paddlers have been up to as there is something great to each of their endeavors.

North Water friend, Rowan Gloag has been nominated as a finalist in the Male Paddler of the Year awards contest put on by Canoe and Kayak Magazine by In a field of finalist dominated by young stubby boat whitewater paddlers, Rowan Gloag stands out as the only long boat sea kayaker.  Rowan brings a lot that North Water respects in a paddler; a skilled, thoughtful, responsible leader who is pushing his boundaries and subsequently those of his paddling peers and product designers.  Also, he not only has a fun youthful spirit but he is.  with confident of adventure and discipline not typically found to the long boat sea kayaking in the over 55 set typically thought of as “Sea Kayakers”.  A skilled and experienced teacher working with SKILS he is also often found with some of his paddling peers The Hurricane Riders on big ocean swells or at one of back surfing his sea kayak on what might be considered one of his local play spots, Skookumchuck tidal rapid; which just one of the largest tidal rapids on the West Coast of North America.
